Dear L. A. Pastor-brother,
You’ve done so well in enduring for Christ and your church in these difficult days.
Pastors leading and revitalizing healthy churches in LA are few, isolated, and often discouraged.
We fight against Satan, sin, and worldly lies. We fight for resourced-pastors shepherding healthier churches so that (1) LA is saturated with healthier churches and (2) every resident of Los Angeles hears the gospel of Jesus Christ by a member of a healthy church.
We can help each other. As a pastor in LA, I personally feel obligated that we must help each other. So the question is: How can we help each other love and gospelize Los Angeles as fellow pastors?
My answer to that is that we as pastors can connect and resource one another in friendship. And this is what the Shepherd LA initiative does: we connect and resource likeminded pastors for healthier churches in Los Angeles.

On Tuesday October 12, 2021 in the Bethany Baptist Church auditorium (10010 Somerset Blvd., Bellfower, 90706) we are going to think about “Unity for Gospel Churches in 2020s” – how shall we think about gospel and church unity in the midst of the pressures dividing gospel-preaching churches and pastors in 2021? How shall we maintain the spirit of unity in the bond of peace with racial strife being hotly debated in not only the culture but among gospel-believing Christians?

To that end Pastor Bobby Scott of Community of Faith Bible Church (and T4G 2022 plenary preacher) will give an address at our Shepherd LA pastors’ meeting. Bobby Scott is the Pastor of Discipleship at Community of Faith Bible Church. Bobby loves teaching the Word of God and through the power of the Holy Spirit and watching it transform people’s lives (2 Cor 3:18). In this role, he oversees Sunday morning and mid-week teaching ministries. You can find some of his articles on Desiring God and 9Marks. Bobby is passionate about strengthening the urban church. He is married to Naomi, and together, they love their six (Yes, six!) kids.
Pastor P. J. Tibayan of Bethany Baptist Church will give the first response and reflection and then we’ll open it up to the pastors, aspiring pastors, and other church leaders in attendance.
